“What is college for? Is it broken? How do we fix it?”
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences invites you to participate in a discussion on the aims of higher education. Panelists: Bonnie Glass-Coffin, Harrison Kleiner, Norm Jones, Megan Pehrson, and Beth Walden. Our panelists will offer brief perspectives on these questions before we engage in an open dialogue. This discussion arises out of a Seminar on Experiential Learning that CHaSS has hosted over this semester. Participants have read and discussed 'The Heart of Higher Education' by Parker Palmer and Arthur Zajonc, and are ready to share some of the insights they have gained with a broader audience. No previous familiarity with this book is expected or required. Our inquiry into Experiential Learning will continue into the spring semester, and we will be hosting further events, including a lecture by Norm Adler of Yeshiva University. We hope you will be able to join us in an active dialogue on this important and timely topic!
