Utah State University will help host 20 Chinese government officials Nov. 9 through its cooperation with EcoPartnerships, a global organization aimed at facilitating and sharing best practices of economic growth and environmental sustainability.

The officials, ranging from deputy directors to deputy secretaries, will travel to Utah to learn about what the state is doing to benefit environmental health.

While at Utah State’s Logan campus, officials will tour the nutrition, dietetics, and food science food processing facilities and the biogas facility near the Logan lagoons, which produces energy from waste.

Additionally, the group will tour the American West Heritage Center in Wellsville.

Conly Hansen, professor of food sciences, will lead the group on the tour of the facilities.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Utah State University to show these influential members of the international community what we are doing to aid in the understanding and health of the environment,” Hansen said.

Also, while in Utah, the group plans to meet with the governor’s office, USTAR and the University of Utah.

More about EcoPartnerships is online.
