A HOLIDAY CONCERT WITH THE USU CHOIRS

LOGAN, UT – The Utah State University choirs combine to present “Wintersongs” Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Hyde Park.

“This year’s concert will be magical with a traditional, timeless, mystical feel — far from the artificial glitz we often see during the holidays” said Cory Evans, director of choral activities in the Caine College of the Arts.

Accompanying the USU choirs will be the St. Thomas Aquinas organ, brass instruments, bells, a candlelight processional and congregational singing.

“This is the kind of concert one might see in a cathedral in Europe on Christmas Eve,” said Evans.

The USU Chorale, under the direction of Michael Huff, will present “This Child, This King” by Dan Gawthrop and arranged by Huff, as well as “Go Tell it on the Mountain.” The Women’s Choir will present “Carol of the Bells” and “Ceremony of Carols” with harp accompaniment. USU’s Chamber Singers will perform “Shepherd’s Carol” by Bob Chilcott and familiar holiday carols.

Wintersongs is free and open to the public. The concert will be held at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, located at 725 S. 250 East in Hyde Park. For more information visit the Caine College of the Arts Box Office in room 139-B of the Chase Fine Arts Center, call 435-797-8022 or see the college’s website (arts.usu.edu).
