Getting tax transcripts from the IRS
For the 2012-2013 FAFSA, federal regulations no longer allow students to provide a copy of their IRS 1040 forms if they are selected for verification. However, students have several options for getting their tax information to USU for FAFSA verification.
New rules for students who drop summer courses while receiving financial aid:
Summer semester is divided into different sessions. You may have courses in more than one session. If you receive financial aid at the beginning of summer term, you will have not established eligibility until you begin participating academically in each of your courses. If you do not complete those courses you will be required to repay some or all of your financial aid.
Your Right to Privacy:
To protect your right to privacy, we use your SecurityPhrase to verify your identity when you call us. Please take a moment to create your SecurityPhrase. Because email isn't secure, we can only answer general questions by email.
Your 2012-2013 financial aid application:
We send out financial aid offers or other instructions to fully admitted students by email generally one week after submitting the FASFA.
Your 2013-2014 financial aid application:
We send out other instructions to fully admitted students by email generally one week after submitting the FASFA. We will begin sending out financial aid offers to fully admitted students by email generally starting in Mid April.

Pell Grant - For a Limited Time Only:
Students who have received 11 or more full-time semesters of Pell grant will no longer be eligible for Pell funding starting fall 2012 or spring 2013. Some Pell grant awards may be reduced or cancelled as we receive updates from the U.S. Department of Education. We will notify ineligible recipients of any changes or cancellations.
Financial Aid and Academic Participation:
All students receiving financial aid are expected to participate in their courses and graduate. Students who withdraw from or fail courses are required to document participation to avoid repaying their financial aid. Students who withdraw from or fail all their classes may still have to return a portion of their financial aid even if they document participation.
Financial Aid Comes with Strings Attached:
To keep your aid, you must meet minimum GPA and course completion standards. Please review USU's Financial Aid's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
