One of Architectural Digest's Top 100 Interior Designers Comes to USU

Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013

Interior designer Steven Volpe is a guest at USU
Noted interior designer Steven Volpe will lecture at USU as part of the Interior Design Lecture Series and Arts Week 2013. His presentation begins at 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at USU's Performance Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Utah State University’s Department of Art and Design presents guest artist Steven Volpe Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. in the Performance Hall as part of the Interior Design Lecture Series and Arts Week 2013.

“We are so grateful to the Marie Eccles Caine-Russell Family Foundation for its generous support that allows for visiting artists and amazing experiences for our students,” said Darrin Brooks, associate professor of interior design in the Caine College of the Arts.

San Francisco-based designer Steven Volpe is known for his avant-garde masterpieces, perfecting the unconventional juxtaposition of old and new, bold and subtle. One of Architectural Digest’s Top 100 Interior Designers, Volpe opened his own firm, Steven Volpe Design, and cofounded Hedge, a design gallery exhibiting noted contemporary artists’ work on an exclusive basis. San Francisco interior designer Richard Tam made Volpe’s career when he gave Volpe the Brocklebank project — a prominent 1926 apartment building adjoining Nob Hill — when he returned from working in Paris.

“Our students are very fortunate to work with designers and architects whose work appears on the cover of major design publications that include Architectural Digest, Interior Design and Elle Décor,” said Brooks.

Volpe’s presentation begins at 4 p.m. in the Performance Hall on USU’s campus, with a reception to follow. The event is free and open to the public. For more information on Steven Volpe, visit the CCA Box Office in room 139-B of the Chase Fine Arts Center, call the box office at 435-797-8022 or see the Production Services website
