Senior Design Night to Celebrate Hard Work by USU Engineering Seniors
By Sydney Dahle |
Although we can’t promise it won’t snow in Cache Valley, we can promise this: Senior Design Night, USU’s largest tech and innovation expo, is back, featuring dozens of unique senior projects.
Senior Design Night will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in the Taggart Student Center, USU Logan campus. Friends, family, faculty and staff and members of the community are invited
The mechanical, aerospace, civil and environmental engineering projects will be displayed in the second-floor ballroom. Biological engineering, and electrical and computer engineering projects will be in the Sunburst Lounge. Projects that have to be set up outside will be displayed on the TSC patio.
This year’s event features 83 projects from 304 students and over 60 sponsors and mentors, totaling a cumulative 3,000 hours of work spent designing and building. These projects represent and benefit companies including AutoLiv, UDOT, Northrop Grumman, ThermoFisher Scientific and more.
Projects include everything from a supersonic experience designed for the Leonardo Museum to new wireless charging technologies to building rockets and mars rovers.
“We are grateful for the time and support our sponsors and mentors provided to our students,” said Steve Larson, director of industry relations for the College of Engineering and the lead planner for the event. “Witnessing the innovative endeavors of our students showcased through their projects is a source of immense delight for all attendees.”
