Inclusive Excellence has partnered with The Family Place to offer this free course to help individuals learn how to help other adults (Adult Mental Health First Aid). The Mental Health First Aid Certification is a 6 hour training. To make this course as accessible as possible, sessions are available in the morning, afternoon, evening, and a full day. Please see the training dates below.
About the Course
This course will help you identify signs of someone struggling, and specific signs for how to help, including the ALGEE action plan. As you move through the course, you will also understand how identity and culture intersect, nonjudgmental listening, cultural considerations related to mental health in different communities, how gender shapes discussions around mental health, barriers to treatment, potential actions to mitigate barriers and disparities, mental health as a cultural stigma, and safe language in suicide prevention.
Training Sessions
All sessions are held in-person
Location: Distance Education Building Rm 209
- Afternoon Session: 12:00pm-2:30pm, Thursday September 14th and Thursday September 21st
- Afternoon Session: 1:30pm-4:00pm Wednesday, September 20th, Wednesday September 27th
- Evening Sessions: 6pm-9pm Tuesday, October 17th, Tuesday October 24th
- Full Day: 8am-3pm Saturday, October 14th
