New 'Future Casting' Episode Aligns With National Sexual Assault Awareness Month

President Cantwell Hosts Advocates Jill Anderson and Rachel Louise Snyder in Latest Podcast Release

By Hannah Castro |

President Cantwell interviews Jill Anderson, CEO of CAPSA, Cache Valley's rape crisis and domestic violence shelter.

“Future Casting with Utah State” released its fourth episode with special guests Jill Anderson, CEO and executive director of CAPSA, a nonprofit recovery center based in Cache County, and Rachel Louise Snyder, the author of No Visible Bruises: What We Don’t Know About Domestic Violence Can Kill Us.

Anderson volunteered for CAPSA and then became CEO in 1997 where under her leadership, grew the small one-home shelter to the leading support center in Utah.

Snyder is an author, journalist and domestic violence advocate. She is also the keynote speaker for the annual Northern Utah Conference to End Violence. A collaboration between Utah State and CAPSA, the conference will take place on Utah State University’s Logan Campus on Wednesday, May 29.

In this episode, President Cantwell, Anderson and Snyder converse about the importance of addressing sexual and domestic violence and how to successfully address these issues to different communities.

“It takes law enforcement, community-based advocates, health care, civic leaders, faith leaders and when you think about all of those different communities and systems, we each have to take responsibility if we're going to end this,” Anderson said.

The podcast ties perfectly with the presentations in the upcoming conference where the theme is “A Call for Collaborative Leadership.” Planning for the future is essential with these issues, which are always relevant.

“The more people we can bring under the umbrella and offer awareness, training and resources to,” Snyder said, “the more we're going to begin to see real change.”
