Utah State University's Equine Science Program will hold an online horse auction Nov. 1-15.

Utah State University’s Equine Science Program will conduct an online production sale featuring exceptionally-bred foals, beginning Nov. 1 and ending Nov. 15. A preview day is Nov. 10. All proceeds of the auction will benefit the Equine Science Program students.

“The university has invested in quality-bred mares and, through the generosity of the stallion owners, we have been able to produce exceptional foals that are not often bred in the Intermountain area,” said Dr. David Price, director of the Equine Center.

The auction will feature 12 quality-bred foals, all registered through either the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) or the American Paint Horse Association (APHA). The foals were produced as a part of the Applied Equine Reproduction course under the supervision of faculty.

“This shows an ongoing commitment by Utah State University to the Equine Science program and the equine industry,” said Price.

The get of sires include foals from performance racing world champions such as No Secrets Here, the American Quarter Horse racing stallion that has earned more than $1 million during his career; Dash ta Fame, the number one leading barrel sire and top sire of barrel horses for eight consecutive years; and Colonels Smoking Gun, the National Reigning Horse Association Hall of Fame stallion that earned more than $170,000. Other sires include TR Dual Rey, Volcom, Whimpys Little Step, Smart and Smooth Cat, Hickory’s Indian Pep, and He’s a Peptospoonful.

Interested parties can attend the auction’s preview day happening at USU’s Equine Education Center located at 3580 South Highway 89/91 in Wellsville, Utah. No purchase can be made on the preview day.

To participate in the online auction, interested parties can go to animalsales.usu.edu to create an online account, bid and then track their bids. The winning bidder will be able to pick up their foals within five days of the auction’s end.

For more information about each foal’s pedigree and more sale details, see the sale website.
