40th Annual Pow Wow 'Echoing Traditional Ways'

Utah State University is the site and host for the 40th annual Pow Wow “Echoing Traditional Ways.”

 

The gathering is held on USU’s Logan campus March 1 and 2 and is hosted by USU’s Native American Student Council.

 

The Nelson Fieldhouse (800 E. 700 North, Logan, Utah) provides the venue for multiple activities. Friday’s Grand Entry takes place at 7 p.m. and Saturday’s Grand Entry at noon and 6 p.m.

 

The public is invited, and admission is $4 for the general public, $3 for USU students with current ID, as well as seniors (65+). Children age 7 and under are admitted free. Group rates are also available.

 

Staff for the Pow Wow include the arena director, Bart Powaukee, Roosevelt, Utah; master of ceremonies, Emerson Bill, Sr., Salt Lake City; Host Drum, Cliff Eagle, Salt Lake City; Head Man, Lane Neaman, Taylorsville, Utah; and Head Woman, Miss American Indian USU 2013-14.

 

Prizes to be awarded include the winner-take-all drum contest award of $1,000.

 

USU organizations supporting the event include the Access and Diversity Center, office of the Vice President for Student Services and the University Inn and Conference Center.
