Bio
Amanda grew up in Cache Valley. She completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from Utah State University. Amanda began her career in higher education with USU's Independent Study. During her time there, she found her passion working with students and set a goal to become an academic advisor. Amanda took a job in the advising center in 2006 as the office manager, and officially began advising in 2008. She initally worked with students majoring in sociology, social work, and anthropology. Amanda is currently assigned to work with students majoring in journalism and history. She was nominated by her students and selected as finalist for the Utah State University New Advisor of the Year in 2010 and won the Utah State University New Advisor of the Year award in 2011. She recently won the 2012 NACADA (National Academic Advising Association) Outstanding New Advisor Award. She enjoys working with her students.
Amanda advises students majoring in history on all requirements for graduation, including general education, major requirements, and university requirements. She also advises students in journalism on general education and university requirements.
