Sophomore Scholarship

  • Applications due through USU General Scholarship Application in March and awarded in April
  • Requirements:
    • Must have demonstrated academic excellence as well as extracurricular involvement during their freshman year at Utah State University.
    • Students must have completed at least 24 USU credits but no more than 45 USU credits (credits received in high school will not be used for consideration).
    • The upcoming fall semester must be the student's third or fourth semester at USU, or the student must have completed at least one full academic year at USU as a full-time student.
    • Students must be a full-time student during the semesters for which they will be receiving the scholarship. Full-time student status is considered as having at least 12 current USU credits. These credits may include online classes and/or classes associated with a pass/fail grading option.
    • If you are receiving any full-tuition USU scholarships for the upcoming academic year, you do not qualify for this scholarship.


Claude J. and Frances Burtenshaw Outstanding Emerging Student Leader Scholarship

  • Three recipients
  • Requirements:
    • Must be a sophomore or junior.
    • Must have demonstrated outstanding leadership potential in performance of duties.
    • Must have made substantial contributions to the student government thus far in their collegiate career.

Val R. and Ruth Ann Christensen Student Leadership Scholarship

  • One recipient
  • Requirements:
    • Must be junior or senior.
    • Must have demonstrated leadership involvement in USUSA or any other organization affiliated with USUSA.
    • Must have devoted significant time and initiative to serving the community.
    • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Gary Chambers Endowment

  • Two recipients
  • Requirements:
    • Must have demonstrated leadership involvement in USUSA or any other organization affiliated with USUSA.
    • Must have made significant contributions to USU.
    • Must be committed to continued involvement at the university.
