Aggiette & Cheer Audition Information

Auditions for the 2024-2025 Academic Year will take place April 5 & 6, 2024. Please contact morgan.watts@usu.edu if you have any questions. 

• Submit audtion registration form and payment (if not already done)
• Submit one video per person (requirements listed below)
• Submit a headshot (selfies are fine)
• Submit a brief resume describing your previous cheer & dance experience, as well as a list of your current mastered skills (click to see example resume).

Video submission requirements:

• All materials must be of you by yourself (with the exception of stunting)
• Please submit videos of you shot within the last month (with the exception of stunting – those special instructions are listed below)

Aggiettes: Videos must include the following:

• A 45-60 second advanced Jazz dance routine
• A 45 second advanced Hip Hop routine
• A 45 second advanced Pom style routine
• The following technical elements (with or without music):
  • Triple Pirouette
  • Fouettes and a la seconde turns (minimum of 16 counts)
  • Second position leap
  • Front leap/Grand Jete’
  • Firebird leap
  • Calypso/Stag leap
  • Side tilt (R/L sides isolated)
  • Aerial (R/L or both)

Cheer Women: Videos must include the following:

• A 45 second intermediate Hip Hop dance
• A 45 second intermediate Pom style dance
• 2 tumbling passes – one back handsprings series and the other a tumbling pass of your choice (whip, layout, tuck, full, etc.).
• Standing back handspring
• Standing tuck
• Standing toe-touch back handspring or back tuck
• Co-ed partner stunting (not required if you do not have previously recorded video)

Cheer Men: Videos must include the following:

• 2-3 cheers (no actions required - mainly looking for loud, strong voices)
• Optional elements to add in (but not required)
  • Any tumbling you can do
  • Co-ed partner stunting

Big Blue Audition: Videos must include the following:

• 1-2 minute skit with music, props are optional as well
• Tumbling skills (standing and running) 
• Dancing skills
• Any other tricks or unique abilites

If you are auditioning for both Aggiettes and Cheer:

• Make sure you specify that on the registration form
• You can submit one video and resume for both – just make sure all required elements are covered
• Material that overlaps (i.e. hip hop or pom dance) – you can submit one routine to cover both requirements

You will be notified about in-person auditions by March 27th 2024.

In-person audition:

Those who make it through our virtual audition round will have the opportunity to participate in an in-person audition on April 5 & 6, 2024 in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on the Logan, Utah campus.
