Full Schedule Details
For full details about the schedule, please see the Commencement Schedule.

Candidates for Bachelor's/Associate's Degrees

To participate in commencement, a student must file an Application for Graduation with the Registrar's office (TSC 246) one semester prior to the semester of the intended graduation date, and be a graduate (or anticipated graduate) of Fall 2019, Spring 2020, or Summer 2020 terms. The application process must be completed. Students can obtain and complete the Graduation Application online at the Registrar's office website.

Candidates for Master's and Doctoral Degrees

Candidates for master's and doctoral degrees should already have completed all paperwork for the appropriate degree. Depending on whether a student is on Plan A, B, C, or a doctoral candidate, varying processes and paperwork exist which signal program completion and qualification for commencement participation. Students should visit the Graduate School website for Commencement Deadlines https://gradschool.usu.edu/commencement/. This will help identify the deadlines and necessary steps required for students to participate in commencement and have their name appear in the printed commencement program. Students should also visit the Semester Deadlines https://gradschool.usu.edu/degree-completion/ to identify the deadlines and necessary steps required for degree completion and have their degree posted to their transcript. If further clarification is required, please email gradcommencement@usu.edu.

Academic Regalia

Participants in the ceremony should wear authorized caps and gowns. Commencement apparel is available to buy from the USU Campus Store. Your cap and gown can be purchased at the Graduation Fair in the USU Campus Store on March 17 and 18, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For further information, contact the USU Campus Store at 1-800-662-3950 or 435-797-3950. Candidates for degrees wear the black mortarboard with a tassel that is a color distinctive of the degree being received.

Please wear the prescribed academic costume that corresponds to your degree. Each part of the regalia has a traditional meaning specific to your major field, Utah State University, and higher education. Candidates for master's and doctoral degrees will carry the hood over the left arm prior to their college convocation on Thursday, April 30, or Friday, May 1.

Stoles and Cultural Heritage Adornments

Objects of cultural significance are also welcome as approved regalia for ceremonies. Students may choose to wear stoles offered by professional organizations or academic societies in their field-of-study. Students should contact these organizations directly to inquire about the availability and ordering of professional stoles.
