About Health Education and Promotion

The Health Education and Promotion MPH degree emphasizes the behavioral, social and cultural factors related to individual and population health and health disparities over the life span. Learn to promote and sustain healthy environments and healthy lives for individuals and populations.

To be admitted to a graduate program, you must meet these minimum requirements.

  • Complete online application.
  • Pay the $55 application fee.
  • Provide transcripts for all college/university credits.
  • Include a statement of purpose in your online application.
  • Score at least in the 40th percentile on the GRE or MAT.
  • 3.0 or higher GPA for the last 60 semester (90 quarter) credit hours.
  • 3 letters of recommendation (at least two should come from faculty members).

Students from any accredited undergraduate major are invited to apply. Applicants are expected to have strong written and oral communication skills.

Applicants with four years or more of paid public health experience may submit a waiver for the entrance exam. Waivers should include both:

  1. a resume focused on your public health work experience including public health employment history, position titles and dates at each public health agency
  2. a one-page letter addressed to the Health Education and Promotion MPH director that describes your public health experience, the scope of your responsibilities, the number of people you supervised, and the reach of your influence. Waivers can be submitted for review as a supplemental item after the application fee has been paid.
