USU Dining Services Honors Sarah Duke as Employee of the Month

Sarah Duke (center) receives her Dining Services' Employee of the Month plaque from Marketplace Supervisor Rachel Hawes and Operations Manager David Chambers.

Sarah Duke, an employee of the Aggie Marketplace at Utah State University, was recently selected for the Dining Services Employee of the Month for November. This selection was based on Dining Service’s core value of Respect.

Alan Andersen, the executive director of USU Dining Services, states that respect to his organization means to treat others as they would want to be treated, always taking people into account as decisions are made. Respect for other people’s values, ideas, time and opinions are valued and no one person is more important than the other. If there are differences, they are handled with open, honest communication, Andersen concluded.

“Sarah is the exemplification of respect in the workplace, with over 10 peer nominations showing her commitment to the value,” Andersen said.

One of Duke’s coworkers commented, “Sarah is always respectful towards coworkers, customers and supervisors. She always has others in mind […] she respects the openers and doesn’t leave at night until everything is ready to go for opening and the equipment is put back together.” Another co-worker praised her commitment to treating other how she would like to be treated and her ability to stay positive and always have a smile on her face.

Duke’s management team is proud to have her as an example of respect for other employees throughout the organization.

Duke was awarded a $50 Aggie Express Card as well as a plaque.
