Provost's Office and AIS Collaborate to Focus on Student Success

Utah State University’s Provost’s office and Academic & Instructional Services (AIS) have formed a new organization called the Student Achievement Collaborative (the Collaborative). 
The new organization includes a network of offices from both units with common goals and purposes to guide students to success. The following offices make up the Collaborative:

• Office of Student Retention.
• Office of Student Orientation and Transition Services.
• Academic Success Center (including the Student Support Services).
• University and Exploratory Advising (newly combined).
• Career Services.

Janet Anderson will lead in her dual role as associate vice president in AIS and vice provost in the Provost’s office.

“This is an exciting time to work at Utah State,” said Anderson. “The Collaborative will serve as the university’s innovative core for student success. We have always had strong teams who have done great work in helping our students excel. Moving forward, we will be able to work together more and pull together our resources to create new programs to benefit students.”

According to Robert Wagner, vice president of AIS, collaboration has been key to all of the university’s successful initiatives. 

“A lot of us have great ideas but aren’t sure who to share them with or how to get them started,” Wagner said. “We went to work in identifying all organizations within AIS whose goals are focused around student success. Now, ideas can easily be shared and put into action at a faster rate to continue making USU a great place for students.”

The new structure helps further USU President Noelle Cockett’s vision to further student success. 

“Noelle’s mission from day one has been to do everything possible to ensure Aggie students succeed,” said Frank Galey, USU executive vice president and provost. “This reorganization of offices is an important step in realizing her initiatives.”
