Electric Vehicle & Roadway Conference Returns to Utah

Top experts from the industry and innovation sectors all over the world will gather Feb. 5-7 in Park City for a conference on electric transportation. The theme of this conference will be pilot projects and coordination.

“This is no longer an academic discussion,” said Regan Zane, director of ASPIRE and co-chair of the CERV Conference. “Now is the time to meet together with leading experts and key decision makers as we plan for pilots and beyond pilots for national deployment of electrified transportation solutions. Together we are making the world a better place.”

CERV gives related industries the chance to connect on charging infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, electrification and much more. The ASPIRE Engineering Research Center both organizes and co-sponsors the event.

The purpose of the conference is to integrate energy, vehicle and infrastructure communication.

Panel sessions will be on topics such as static and dynamic wireless charging, grid integration and impacts, roadway integration and autonomy. Keynote presentations will be given by WiTricity CEO Alex Gruzen and Chief Counsel of the Federal Highway Administration Andrew Rogers.

ASPIRE is currently a part of three different pilots: one in Utah testing electric trucks, one on roadway electrification in Florida, and another inductive charging project in Indiana, led by university partner Purdue. Ford Motor Company is also a part of a pilot in Michigan to develop and test wireless charging infrastructure near Michigan Central Station. The goal is to outfit an electric shuttle with a wireless receiver.

Other sponsors and speakers for this conference are leading executives from Toyota, WiTricity and Electreon Wireless. Officials from the Utah Department of Transportation and the U.S. Department of Transportation will also be in attendance.
