Final Candidates for USU Chief of Police to Visit Campus May 2-4

As part of a rigorous national search for a Utah State University chief of police, three finalists have been invited for on-campus interviews May 2-4, 2022.

The three finalists are: Blair Barfuss, who is currently serving as the chief of police/director of public safety at Dixie State University (Utah Tech University); Danielle Croyle, current executive officer at the South Salt Lake Police Department; and John Sherman, who recently retired from the Los Angeles Police Department and relocated to Utah.

Each candidate will provide a public presentation titled: "Building Bridges Between Law Enforcement and the University Community — A Model for Collaboration." All presentations will take place on the Logan campus and will be broadcast on Zoom for members of the university community throughout the state.

The chief of police serves as a primary resource and adviser to the university on matters related to law enforcement and is responsible for the comprehensive operations of the university's police department. The chief leads and directs all functions of university police on the Logan and Eastern campuses, with the goal of providing a peaceful and safe environment for the university community. This position reports to the Executive Director of Public Safety.
