Stay Informed With USU Safety Tools, Aggie Safe App

By Jen Wright |

In light of recent violence at other universities, Utah State University is reminding community members about USU’s safety tools and how to get up-to-date information in an emergency situation.

The Aggie Alert system uses text messaging and emails to notify USU students and employees about emergencies affecting their campus. If you have family or friends who would like to receive Aggie Alerts, they can sign up at usu.edu/dps/emergency/alerts.

The university will also share information on its official social media platforms, the emergency.usu.edu website, and via notifications on the Aggie Safe app.

Aggie Safe App Updates

The USU Department of Public Safety has made recent changes to the Aggie Safe app. To make sure you have the most up-to-date version, check the bottom of the Aggie Safe home screen for prompts to update.

If you experience issues with function or features, delete the app from your device and reinstall it. You can find the Aggie Safe app in the iOS or Android app stores.

Recent app changes include:

The addition of non-emergency numbers for all of USU’s locations across the state. Under Emergency Contacts, you’ll find a Statewide Campuses, Non-Emergencies section with an alphabetical list of USU locations. Tap your location button to make a call.

USU has discontinued the Virtual Walkhome feature. The Friend Walk feature, which allows you to send your location to a friend in real time so they can watch you walk to your destination, is still available. Also, students and employees on the Logan and USU Eastern campuses can use the Safety Escort button to request an escort from a university public safety officer.

Visit usu.edu/dps/safeapp for more information about the Aggie Safe app. If you have any questions or comments, please contact emergencymanagement@usu.edu.
