Utah State Theatre Produces Award-Winning Musical with Quirky Name

According to director Colin Johnson, who also serves as the Utah State University Theatre Arts Department head, Urinetown may evoke a certain level of doubt or wonderment of how a play titled as such could find its way to a stage in Cache Valley.

Utah State Theatre presents this oddly-titled play Oct. 25 through 27 and Oct. 31 through Nov. 3.

“In answering questions that are sure to arise, and to allay any fears due to the nature of the musical’s title, I want to stress the play’s award-winning history and cultural validity,” Johnson said. “It was the recipient of nine major Broadway theater awards and two Off-Broadway awards.”
