By Mariah Spencer |

NOTICE: All university events have been canceled through Wednesday, April 8, in order to prevent COVID-19 from appearing and spreading in campus communities throughout the state. For more information, visit: www.usu.edu/COVID-19.

Utah State University Career Services and the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences will host Women in Agriculture: Feed Your Career on Thursday, March 12, from 1:30-6 p.m. The event, which is held in conjunction with the USU Year of the Woman, kicks off with speed career coaching in the first floor lobby of the Albrecht Agricultural Sciences building, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Students will have opportunities to perfect elevator pitches, write effective resumes, expand internship searches and learn effective job-interview strategies.

A panel discussion and networking session will be held in the TSC Skyroom, 4-6 p.m. Panel speakers include trailblazers and successful women in various agriculture careers, including Adelia Mountcastle, co-owner and business manager of The Garden Gateway; Susan Benson, D.V.M., Bridgerland Animal Hospital; Debra Spielmaker, professor and National Center for Agricultural Literacy team leader; Rachel Rood, registered dietician and founder of Positive Change Nutrition; and keynote speaker Crista Sorensen, director of Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection Community Garden.

Abby Benninghoff, associate dean for research and graduate student services in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, will serve as the event hostess for the networking session.

Students will meet and network with these women and many other invited guests following the panel discussion. Interested students should come prepared to interact and take advantage of this incredible networking opportunity.
