Gift Honors Memory of Beloved Accounting Professor |
Robert Phillips ’90, made a donation to the Larzette Hale Scholarship in Accounting on August 18, 2020, the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote. Dr. Hale mentored Robert as he worked to earn an accounting degree, making an incredible impact on his life. |

Haven Barlow ’44 Longest Serving State Lawmaker in Utah History |
Haven Barlow has the distinction of serving the longest stint in the Utah Legislature in state history, with 42 years in all, from 1953 to 1994. He was a driving force behind creation of the Utah Board of Higher Education. Barlow passed away February 7 at 100 years of age. Current House Speaker Brad Wilson tweeted that Barlow’s legacy will live on his impact on Utah is impossible to measure. |

Gail Halvorsen Known as Utah’s ‘Berlin Candy Bomber’ |
Gail Halvorsen, the Utah farm boy who became a hero in post-World War II Europe for fastening candy to handkerchiefs and dropping them from his U.S. Air Force cargo plane to the children of West Berlin, earning him the nickname the “Berlin Candy Bomber,” died February 17 at the age of 101. |
