Sol Energy

As a long-time consumer of traditional energy drinks, USU student Carter Josephson —and now alumni— became frustrated with the beverage industry and its lack of truly healthy energy drink options. Through his experience as a consumer, he found that these beverages either had clean ingredients but had an unpleasant flavor, or the products claimed to be healthy but still used cheap, artificial ingredients that pose negative long-term health effects.

Carter wanted to create a beverage that would offer a better-for-you alternative to the beverages we all love. So, Sol Energy was born. Made with only seven clean, highly proven ingredients, Sol Energy offers all the benefits of traditional energy drinks — like increased energy and focus — without the side effects like headaches, energy crashes, and long-term health issues. The company’s goal is to help people live happier, healthier lives doing what they love to do for longer, and they plan to expand their offerings to further this mission in the future.

Carter Josephson, the co-founder of Sol Energy, established the company during his time at USU in 2023, leveraging insights gained from his experiences at Utah State. His academic background, culminating in a Bachelor's degree in Finance with minors in Real Estate, Data Analytics, and Management Information Systems in the Fall of 2023, played a crucial role. Drawing inspiration from his finance and marketing classes, Carter applied both basic and advanced principles learned at USU in crafting a comprehensive
business plan, executing strategic marketing initiatives, and successfully launching a product to the market.

Looking ahead, Carter envisions the expansion of Sol Energy to offer a broader range of products. His goal is to contribute to people living happier, healthier lives by providing better-for-you alternatives to popular beverages. This strategic vision aligns with Sol Energy's commitment to promoting well-being and providing consumers with options that enhance their overall health and satisfaction.
