Utah Women Making History exhibit

Exhibition | Year of the Woman

The Hyrum City Museum will feature the traveling exhibit "Utah Women Making History" in celebration of the three significant women's rights anniversaries in the year 2020. This exhibit includes illustrations of Utah women (and a few men) who worked throughout the 20th century to advocate for women and advance their communities, including USU alumna Mignon Barker Richmond. These 50 illustrations were commissioned by Better Days 2020, a nonprofit dedicated to popularizing Utah women’s history and spearheading Utah’s statewide celebrations of these significant anniversaries.

Get Away Special General Team Meeting

The Get Away Special Team is an undergraduate, extracurricular, small satellite research team within the Utah State University Department of Physics. This meeting is where sub-teams collaborate to ensure the success of projects such as a NASA CSLI-selectee CubeSat GASPACS and other small satellite research. Mel Torrie, Founder, President, and CEO of Autonomous Solutions Inc.
Mr. Torrie grew up on a farm in Alberta Canada and earned a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University. Mr. Torrie then taught at Utah State University and worked on multiple NASA Space Shuttle payloads. 20 years ago he spun out the university’s robotics lab to make driverless vehicles a reality in industries like agriculture, mining, construction, security, material handling, and automotive. Other businesses he’s started with his wife include a restaurant, school of rock/jazz, and a non-profit foundation for disadvantaged youth in Central America. Mel has been an invited keynote speaker and trainer on the topics of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Robotics, and STEM education in countries like Egypt, Russia, China, Japan, Croatia, Germany, South Africa, and Australia
