Little Naturalist

Lecture/Readings | Home, Family, and Food

Little Naturalist is the perfect program for 3 to 5 year olds who are curious about animals, their habitats, the environment, and exploring nature. Join us twice a month, October through May, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to read a specially selected nature-themed book, explore the natural world, and complete a craft. Some favorites include snowshoeing on the Preserve, interacting with live reptiles and amphibians, upcycling old materials into holiday decorations, and much more!

Cost is $2.00 per youth participant, or buy a $15.00 punch card good f or 10 programs.

Meeting

This discussion group will use Canvas and WebEx (video conferencing) as the platform. It is free and not a graded course. Students can self-enroll by clicking on the link above. Unlike typical Canvas courses, students can engage with the course only during the scheduled meeting times on Monday-Thursday, 4-5pm. This is a discussion group for students to help manage adjustment difficulties related to COVID-19. It is not therapy or psychological treatment. Topics will include managing COVID-19 anxiety, adjusting to remote learning, healthy approaches to social distancing, etc.

The Latinx Cultural Center is providing you with a Virtual Center! You can check in to see what your Latinos In Action council is up to, find resources for your online classes, ask about opportunities during this difficult time, and allow us to stay home together with you. If you would like to be included, please let us know, and tell all of your Aggie friends! The video chats "La Hora de la Sopa" will be open every week on Wednesdays from 11 am to 2 pm until August 07th via WebEx, This will allow you to check-in and out on your own time, just like the physical center! We are planning on continuing the virtual center as long as we need to until we are able to meet in the physical center once more and are all able to meet again on campus.

WEBINAR - Fireflies in Utah?!

Did you know there are fireflies in Utah? Learn about the biology and ecology of these fascinating biolumenescent beetles from Christy Bills, Entomologist at the Natural History Museum of Utah. Christy will be presenting her research on these amazing creatures and providing all the information you need to participate in a local citizen-science project to contribute to their conservation. This interactive lecture will be held remotely. Watch it from the comfort of your home! 2040 Remote Film Screening

Join the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, Park City Film Series, and Park City Municipal Corporation for a remote screening of the 2040 Film followed by a virtual panel discussion! The film will be available for you to watch between April 30 and May 1 from the comfort of your home. The panel discussion will take place via WebEx Events at 6:30 pm on Friday, May 1, 2020.

?Award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) embarks on a journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream. Structured as a visual letter to his 4-year-old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board of how these solutions could regenerate the world for future generations.
