Mindful Movement | Yin Yoga - Gentle yoga that promotes mindfulness while you move

Recreation

Yin yoga is a slow-paced, passive type of yoga that incorporates long holds and stretching designed for deep contemplation and mind-body awareness. Yin yoga promotes sensory awakening that melts away tension and stress, and is known to release repressed or stored emotions. A tried and true technique to experience fascia and connective tissue release, Yin yoga is also an excellent practice for beginners because it offers plenty of time to uncover the unique benefits of individual poses without worrying about tricky transitions.

Start by Believing Day

Fair/Festival

Visit a pledge booth across the state on this day to learn how to respond to a survivor when they disclose their experience to you. Then, take the pledge to start by believing; making a personal commitment to respond to a survivor with belief and empathy, support that survivor on their road to justice and healing, and to end the silence and stop the cycle of violence within our communities. You can also take the pledge online throughout the month at startbybelieving.usu.edu and be sure to use the campaign hashtag #USUbelieves so we can track the number of pledges USU takes.

Washington State University Extension Sustainability Speaker Series

Panel Discussion/Presentation

Every day, we consume resources from the earth in the form of water, food, fiber, energy, and other resources. We are doing this at an unsustainable rate that will affect future generations and all life on earth. This rampant resource use is especially problematic in the United States. In this webinar, we review how ecological footprints are measured and the problems created by excessive resource use. We will present solutions to increase sustainability with examples from “Green Marketing.” Helping consumers “Go Green” through social influence and message framing at large scales can help shrink our ecological footprints and encourage us to adopt more responsible and environmentally friendly practices.

Rising Athenas, Male Allies, and the Power of Gender Partnership

Panel Discussion/Presentation

The Utah Women & Leadership Project invites you to join us for our fourth Spring Women’s Leadership Forum.

The authors of the Harvard Business Review books Athena Rising and Good Guys will make the business case for male engagement in gender equality, showing why men are often absent from gender equity work and why genuine equity is good for both men and women. Using social science evidence and their extensive interviews with women (and the men they nominated), they will explore the possible challenges of cross-gender professional relationships. Using their research and organizational best practices, they will provide the “how to” for men, women, and organizational leaders who want to be intentional, inclusive, and excellent allies, leveraging mentorship, sponsorship, and workplace partnership to create a more diverse workforce.

RVSP to attend.
