Reducing the Harm & Stigma of Opioid Use Disorder

Conference/Seminar

Communities benefit from reducing the stigma and helping prevent harm caused by opioid misuse, including overdose and disease, by building understanding and support for recovery and growth through evidence-based best practices. YOU can make a difference.

Join the Utah State University Extension's Tribal & Rural Opioid Initiative Resource Center on Monday, September 20 at 6:30 pm MDT, to learn about harm reduction strategies for opioid misuse treatment and overdose prevention. Dr. Erin Manning, Wayne State University School of Medicine Associate Professor, will present topics that are proven to address opioid misuse, including stigma reduction, person-first language, naloxone education, syringe exchange, and medication-assisted treatments.

* Treatment professionals may qualify for 1 CEU by completing required evaluations and the complete training session.

Mindful Movement | Yin Yoga

Recreation

FREE REGISTRATION: https://bit.ly/mindfulnessandmeditationweekly

Yin yoga is a slow-paced, passive type of yoga that incorporates long holds and stretching designed for deep contemplation and mind-body awareness. Yin yoga promotes sensory awakening that melts away tension and stress, and is known to release repressed or stored emotions. A tried and true technique to experience fascia and connective tissue release, Yin yoga is also an excellent practice for beginners because it offers plenty of time to uncover the unique benefits of individual poses without worrying about tricky transitions.

Practicing self care through mindfulness and meditation can help you relax and focus on what is most important - your overall wellness. This is a weekly, online wellness series hosted by the Utah State University Office of Health Equity and Community Engagement and Tribal & Rural Opioid Initiative Resource Center.
