Little Naturalist

Lecture/Readings | Home, Family, and Food

Little Naturalist is the perfect program for 3 to 5 year olds who are curious about animals, their habitats, the environment, and exploring nature. Join us twice a month, October through May, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to read a specially selected nature-themed book, explore the natural world, and complete a craft. Some favorites include snowshoeing on the Preserve, interacting with live reptiles and amphibians, upcycling old materials into holiday decorations, and much more!

Cost is $2.00 per youth participant, or buy a $15.00 punch card good f or 10 programs.

In partnership with, USU Extension - Summit County and Summit CWMA UT, join us for a FREE workshop all about how to support native pollinators in your yard and community.

Did you know that in addition to being harmful to the populations of our native plant life, noxious weeds can also make it tough for essential pollinators to survive. Join panelists Amy Sibul from The University of Utah, Mindy Wheeler with the Utah Department of Natural Resources, and Dee Downing with Red Ant Works Inc. to learn how and why to make your yard a pollinator friendly haven.

[CANCELED] Physics Day at Lagoon

Special Event

Each spring USU Physics Day at Lagoon offers the chance for thousands of middle school and high school students to gather at Utah's largest amusement park to "do physics". The USU Physics Department, the Idaho National Laboratory, and a host of STEM sponsors organize a wide variety of physics-based contests and activities at all levels centered around amusement park physics. Each year thousands of dollars in prizes and scholarships are awarded to top students and teachers.

eLearnX - Experiential Training for Digital-Age Teaching

The eLearnX event is cosponsored by the Office of Empowering Teaching Excellence (ETE) and by the Center for Innovative Design and Instruction (CIDI). This three-day virtual workshop provides a hands-on deep dive into the teaching tools and methodologies of online, broadcast, and blended instruction.


  • Day 1: Sessions on e-learning pedagogy and course mapping.

  • Day 2: Breakout sessions on edtech teaching tools and practical applications of instructional approaches from USU instructors and instructional professionals.

  • Day 3: Culminates in the creation of activities and other useful resources than can be immediately implemented into courses.
