An Evening with Senator Luz Escamilla

Special Event

The USU Latinx Cultural Center would like to present an Evening with Senator Luz Escamilla as our speaker for the LatinX James Porras Lecture Series. Senator Escamilla was elected to the Utah State Senate to represent Senate District 1, becoming the first Latina elected in the Utah State Senate and the first immigrant elected in the Utah State Legislature.

Flu Shot and COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

Special Event

USU's Employee Wellness program is hosting our annual Flu Shot Clinic in collaboration with Bear River Health Department. This year we will also be offering COVID-19 vaccines for all individuals ages 12 years and older. Both vaccinations are free for benefited employees and their eligible dependents. Registration is required for ALL receiving a vaccination and masks are encouraged for all ages 2 years and older.

If you are unable to make it to the annual on campus clinic you may receive free flu shots for you and your dependents at any pharmacy within the Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah network.

World Mental Health Day 2021

Approximately 47 million (nearly 1 in 5) American adults are experiencing a mental health illness. In conjunction with its Aggies Thrive initiative, the Office of Human Resources has partnered with Campus Recreation for USU’s participation in World Mental Health Day on Monday, October 11, 2021. We are thrilled with the variety of activities that have been planned and encourage everyone to participate in some way. All activities will have in person and virtual options. Lost Lecture featuring Dr. Jeannie Johnson

USU alumni were asked, 'Which professor would you want to hear from one more time?' We received an overwhelming response for Dr. Jeannie Johnson '93, associate professor in Political Science and director in the Center for Anticipatory Intelligence. Dr. Johnson's presentation "Spies, Special Forces and Diplomats" will captivate alumni of all ages and backgrounds. This event is sponsored by the USU Emeriti & Retired Employees Association. Tara Teaspoon Cook-along

Join alumna Tara Bench '00, aka Tara Teaspoon, for a virtual cook-along from her Manhattan apartment. Tara is a former magazine food editor for Martha Stewart Living and will show us how to make her favorite tailgate recipe. The $10 fee includes a link to the virtual event, shopping list of ingredients, and surprise kitchen gadget. All registrants will be entered to win Tara's cookbook, Live Life Deliciously!

Andy Larsen, The Salt Lake Tribune, Math & Stats Colloquium

Making data work: how to turn numbers into knowledge
As the Salt Lake Tribune data columnist, Andy Larsen's job is to turn the numbers in our world into insight for a general audience. So how do you best do that? Andy will describe how he chooses topics to cover, and the process of understanding those topics. Most important: he'll show how to present data in an intuitive way, in both graphics and words.

Let Her Light Shine: Memorial Walk for Lauren McCluskey

On the third anniversary of Lauren McCluskey's death, Utah State University will host a memorial walk at the Ralph Maughan Track Stadium. This event will be to honor the incredible Lauren McCluskey as well as raise awareness about relationship violence and important resources.

Participants will be encouraged to sign Lauren's Promise, a pledge to believe victims of threatening behavior.

We will begin our walk at the track field, following keynote speakers, and will end our walk at the South entrance of Maverik Stadium prior to the USU Football Homecoming Game.

Running of the Bulls 5K

Join fellow Aggies in completing the Homecoming 5K run/walk wherever you are or in-person beginning on the Logan campus ending on Main Street just in time to join the Homecoming Parade. Points for creativity! Show us your Big Blue spirit by wearing your Aggie swag. Don't miss discounted pricing: Now- October 4 (Early Bull); October 5 –October 15 (Eager Bull); October 16- October 22 (Slow Poke). Registration will close Thursday, October 22 at 5 pm. Registration is available the morning of for an additional charge. All proceeds benefit your USU Spirit Squad!

All participants receive an athletic race shirt, post-race refreshments, VIP seating at the parade, entry into our prize drawing, a voucher for Aggie Ice Cream, and other goodies from our sponsors. T-SHIRTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED IF REGISTERED AFTER October 15.

Note, this is a point-to-point race so participants must park at the Logan Tabernacle and ride the shuttle up to the starting line or get their own ride back to campus to their car. Shuttles begin at 7:15 AM and the last shuttle will leave promptly at 8:00 AM!

The parade route runs along Main Street from Center Street to 800 North in Logan.
