Start by Believing Day

Fair/Festival

Visit a pledge booth across the state on this day to learn how to respond to a survivor when they disclose their experience to you. Then, take the pledge to start by believing; making a personal commitment to respond to a survivor with belief and empathy, support that survivor on their road to justice and healing, and to end the silence and stop the cycle of violence within our communities. You can also take the pledge online throughout the month at startbybelieving.usu.edu and be sure to use the campaign hashtag #USUbelieves so we can track the number of pledges USU takes.

2021 Robins Awards

Ceremony/Awards/Celebration

Robins Awards are the most coveted of all Utah State honors. Students are rewarded for their hard work and dedication to their individual goals, as well as the goals of USU. The awards memorialize William E. Robins, a campus hero who had a rare quality to turn his vision into Utah State’s vision. Robins was a Sigma Nu at Utah State who served as USU’s student body president in 1949. He was also the primary and initial visionary of today’s Taggart Student Center. In 1954, Bill and his wife Geraldine died in a plane crash, leaving behind the one-year old orphan Nick Robins. This prompted Bill’s fraternity to set up the Bill E. Robins Memorial fund to raise money that would provide a scholarship for the boy’s education when he was old enough to enroll in the University. Tragically, Nick Robins died at the age of eight from leukemia. Now we honor this families memory and impact at USU through the Robins Awards.

Coffee & Conversation: A Message on Self-Love

Workshop/Training

Felicia Gallegos (She/Her), SAAVI Outreach & Prevention Coordinator, has been having conversations with the USU community about engaging in healthy relationships with others over the past 5 years. Over the years, she has realized something very important is missing; a love for ourselves. Join Felicia for coffee as she talks about learning to love yourself again, or for the first time ever. Because how are we supposed to ever engage in healthy relationships with others if we can't do so with ourselves first?

Coffee & Conversation: Prevention Beyond Compliance

Workshop/Training

Felicia Gallegos (She/Her) and Emmalee Fishburn (She/Her) are two of the individuals behind the violence prevention efforts happening at Utah State University. Early on in their efforts, they realized how important it was to ensure their efforts weren't just "checking a box", but were truly creating a culture where the Utah State Family refused to tolerate violence. Five years later, find out how they've done it!
