Mindfulness Meditation | Sitting in breath and presence
Recreation
FREE REGISTRATION: https://bit.ly/mindfulnessandmeditationweekly Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress. Mindfulness meditation has been proven to support various health conditions - stress, anxiety, pain, depression, insomnia, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, and more - and help you experience thoughts and emotions with greater balance and acceptance, improve attentiveness, and relieve burnout. Practicing self care through mindfulness and meditation can help you relax and focus on what is most important - your overall wellness. This is a weekly, online wellness series hosted by the Utah State University Office of Health Equity and Community Engagement and Tribal & Rural Opioid Initiative Resource Center.
Kayak Roll Session
Recreation
Students, Faculty and Staff! Come get your kayak roll on in the HPER small pool Tuesday nights, 7-9pm. Outdoor Programs will have kayaks (with skirts and paddles) available at the pool on a first-come-first-served basis. Please be respectful if others are waiting for a boat and limit your time to less than 45 minutes. To access roll sessions, you must have student, staff, faculty, or guest access to the pool area. The general public may purchase a $3.00 pool pass for the roll session at the HPER service desk. If you have questions about pool access, contact the HPER service desk @435-797-1785. You can bring your own kayak but it must be inspected by OP staff prior to entering the pool area. Boats must be cleaned and inspected in the OP wash-down room. Boat inspections can be done during shop business hours on the day of the roll session. Dirt, debris and foreign material entering the pool from unclean boats will result in the termination of roll sessions! To access the pool with your kayak, you must enter the HPER building through the west doors near the ARC and sand volleyball courts. Parking is available on 800 E. DO NOT PARK IN THE OP CUSTOMER STALLS FOR ROLL SE
Mindful Movement | Yin Yoga
Recreation
FREE REGISTRATION: https://bit.ly/mindfulnessandmeditationweekly Yin yoga is a slow-paced, passive type of yoga that incorporates long holds and stretching designed for deep contemplation and mind-body awareness. Yin yoga promotes sensory awakening that melts away tension and stress, and is known to release repressed or stored emotions. A tried and true technique to experience fascia and connective tissue release, Yin yoga is also an excellent practice for beginners because it offers plenty of time to uncover the unique benefits of individual poses without worrying about tricky transitions. Practicing self care through mindfulness and meditation can help you relax and focus on what is most important - your overall wellness. This is a weekly, online wellness series hosted by the Utah State University Salt Lake County Health Extension.
