The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHaSS) is teaming up with the Institute of Government and Politics to bring you Around the World Wednesdays – a series of conversations with Utah State University alumni working internationally.

Join us each month as we virtually visit a different region to learn the ins and outs of finding opportunities abroad, navigating a new culture, and exploring professional environments beyond our borders.

On Wednesday, September 16th, our panel will discuss working in the Middle East. Shashank Chauhan (Political Science ‘06), Program Manager for Mercy Hands for Humanitarian Aid, an Iraqi NGO based in Baghdad, and Janet Larsen Roberts (English ’74), English Subject Matter Expert for Knowledge Group, LLC in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates will share their experiences serving communities abroad.

Co-host Dr. Shannon Peterson is also available to share opportunities for current USU students interested in interning abroad.

The CHaSS Alumni Lunch Series has gone online! Join us as we discuss careers and current events with esteemed alumni. On Friday, September 18, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences is pleased to welcome Reverend Dr. Fatimah Salleh (BA History) who will share her experiences since leaving CHaSS including pursuing a Masters in Divinity and founding A Certain Work, an organization dedicated to educating on issues of faith, diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is also co-author of The Book of Mormon For the Least of These. Fatimah will talk about how a background in History has served her career path as well as discuss her important work educating fellow clergy about issues of race, gender, and inclusion. Dr. Patrick Mason, Leonard J. Arrington Chair of Mormon History and Culture at Utah State University,will moderate a live Q&A. Join us as we learn about the experiences of our esteemed CHaSS alumni and learn how one alum’s work is making a difference in their industry. USU Tooele's Annual Blue Rock Run

Everyone is invited to join local USU students, alumni, staff and the community for our annual 5K race. The race is a loop and will start at USU Tooele heading west towards Tooele Blvd., down to 700 South, then turning left on Coleman Street up Vine Street, finishing back USU Tooele.

Entry Fees:
July 27 - August 28: $10
August 29 - September 18: $15
September 19, Day of Race: $20
