Instructors: Dr. Karin Kettenring & Nate Norman Dates: August 22-23, 2023 Description: Learn to apply wetland delineation course material in real-world wetland settings when problem-solving and decision-making in the face of uncertainty are necessary (especially with problematic soil situations). Students will develop specific skills, competencies, and points of view needed by wetland professionals as specified by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Introduction to Social Annotation with Hypothes.is

Workshop/Training

This session will be an introduction to using Hypothesis and social annotation in your courses. Jessica from the Hypothesis team will share how teachers are using annotation-powered reading to help students develop foundational academic skills like deep reading and persuasive writing. In addition to sharing pedagogical best practices for social annotation, she will demonstrate how Hypothesis is used with course readings in Canvas. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how to start incorporating social annotation into their courses to improve student outcomes.

In its fifth year, the Connections Luminary allows students the opportunity to process from the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum to the Quad. During this time, students will hear from esteemed speakers, create lasting connections with others, and experience a meaningful welcome to Utah State University. Fair/Festival

The public is invited to come to the east side of the Quad at 8:15 p.m. to hold a blue luminary lantern and to line up along the sidewalk as the new students walk to the Quad. Participants will be able to keep their lanterns after the Luminary. Parking is available in the Big Blue Terrace and the Aggie Terrace. Learn how YOU can get involved with sustainability on campus during your time at USU and grab some FREE Aggie Ice Cream. Catered to Connections students, but open to the USU community, this event will host paddle boards and kayaking activities, tabling from COSAS, SOSNR, the Student Sustainability Club, Aggie Blue Bikes, the Organic Farm, and more to introduce students to resources available to help them create a more sustainable lifestyle and campus.
