Scarecrow Walk

Recreation

Kick off fall with a fun, family-friendly stroll through the USU Botanical Center! Each year we partner with local businesses, organizations, and individuals to bring you a display of scarecrows hidden along the paths of our property. Come and see the colors change in the Varga Arboretum and celebrate the harvest season in our demonstration gardens. This event is FREE to the public, but we ask that you only visit during our open hours of dawn to dusk. The event runs for 10 days. Prizes will be awarded for the most popular scarecrow, so make sure to look for the numbers and QR codes to vote for your favorite!

Alise King Exhibition

Arts/Entertainment

Alise King is an American photographer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. She received her Master of Arts in Fashion Film and Photography at the Paris College of Art, Paris, France in 2021.

Her photography focuses on portraiture while challenging the concept of gender and social constructs in today’s society. She creates work that comments on social consumption and the way it engulfs our day-to-day life. She aims to represent diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of her work while producing emotion through lighting and staging.

Still highlights the works created during her studies in Paris, France. Her collection of art showcases conceptual photography and videography discussing concepts of mental health, societal norms, inclusivity, consumption, and performance as well as the exploration of fashion photography and studio portraiture. The intention of Still is to showcase ways we are still growing, still developing, and still learning.

Blood Battle with the American Red Cross

Special Event

There is an ongoing blood shortage in the United States right now, due to natural disasters and the pandemic. Utah State and Weber State are going head to head in the name of addressing the blood shortage during Blood Battle 2022. Each school has a goal of collecting 500 units of blood! American Red Cross teams will be on hand from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM every day for four days so that donors can step up and help community members they may never meet. Appointments are recommended this year, but walk-ins will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis. Go to redcrossblood.org and type ZIP code 84322 or the sponsor code BLEEDBLUE in the search box in the top right corner to make an appointment. Many volunteers are also needed to staff the check-in and snack tables. Sign up for a shift or two by logging into USU's service database, found at usu.givepulse.com.
