Year of the Women: The Female Athlete Triad

Panel Discussion/Presentation | Year of the Woman

The Department of Kinesiology & Health Science is hosting multiple events as part of USU's Year of the Women Initiative in February. Please join our first event on Thursday, February 6.

This USU's Year of the Women event will focus on women's empowerment in sports and promoting awareness of eating disorders among college students on the National Women in Sports Day (February 6). Our keynote speaker, Dr. Elizabeth Joy, is the Medial Director for Community Health, Health Promotion and Wellness, and Food & Nutrition at Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City, UT. Dr. Joy has been a well-respected medical doctor specializing in sports medicine eating disorders and also a leading researcher of the Female Athlete Triad, physical activity promotion, and diabetes prevention.

Informed Citizen Series - Join us for a panel on US-Iran Relations

Feb 13th is our second Informed Citizen Series. Join us for a panel on US-Iran Relations. We have special guests Bahram Baktiari, Executive Director of the Baskerville Institute and Matt Berrett, former assistant director of the CIA and co-founder of the Center for Anticipatory Intelligence. The discussion will be moderated by Kerry Bringhurst of Utah Public Radio. If you would like to solicit a question to the panelists on US-Iran Relations, please email katie.roberts@usu.edu. This will be a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about the foreign policy of US and Iran. There will also be free pizza! Hope to see you there!

Inquiring minds of all ages are invited to Science Unwrapped, the public outreach program of Utah State University's College of Science. At 7 pm, enjoy a presentation about pollinators by research entomologist Theresa Pitts-Singer of the USDA-ARS Pollinating Insects Lab on the USU campus. Women in the Judiciary: A Panel Discussion Featuring Judges from the Utah Court of Appeals. The panel includes judges Mary Kate Appleby, Michele M. Christiansen Forster, Diana Hagen and, Jill M. Pohlman, and moderated by Prof. Christy Glass, director of the new Center for Inter-sectional Genders Studies and Research.
Utah Court of Appeals is one of the few majority-female appellate courts ever constituted (4 of 7 judges are women).
