Biases, Barriers, & Barricades for Utah Women: A Solutions-Based Workshop
Workshop/Training
Although some opportunities abound for women in Utah, there are still many challenges that keep women from contributing and thriving within various settings, including workplaces, educational institutions, politics, government, religious, and in the community at large. This in-person solutions-based workshop will focus on three complex issues in the state: decreasing sexism, increasing women in Utah politics, and stopping sexual assault and domestic violence.
This engaging workshop consists of short panels for each of these issues. After each panel, participants will join in a small groups discussion where ideas for solutions will be discussed and captured. Join us in person as we wrestle through ways to move the needle in terms of biases, barriers, and barricades for Utah women! This event has limited seating. Register to reserve your spot.

Jazz Jams
Arts/Entertainment
An eagerly awaited tradition around the Music Department is our series of monthly jam sessions, in which a guest artist (or two or three) from outside Cache Valley visits to perform jazz standards with USU students and community members in a relaxed environment. Come and sit in on a tune, or just sit back, relax, and enjoy the music. Jam sessions are completely unscripted, so you never know what exactly will happen, but it’s great fun watching musicians perform without a net!
As a recording artist known for using the saxophone with electronic effects, Josiah Boornazian is featured on multiple studio and live albums as a leader, sideman, and collaborator. Releases as a leader include Intersection, Live at Frost, Live at the UTRGV PAC, and ÌKAN ÌPÀKÓ Live, which feature Josiah's original modern jazz compositions and improvisations. Josiah is also prominent as a composer and improviser on the collaborative studio recordings Simply Begin Again and A Dark and Stormy Day (Fresh Sound New Talent Records), which feature a quartet Josiah co-leads with New York-based Italian pianist Alessandro Fadini.
