Clothesline Project - Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Special Event

The Clothesline Project is an annual event to raise awareness about domestic violence during the month of October, National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Clothesline Project is a visual display of shirts with graphic messages and illustrations that have been designed by survivors of interpersonal violence or by someone who loves someone who has been killed. It was created as a way for survivors to share what has happened to them as well as highlight the realities behind statistics of domestic violence that are often overlooked. The project will be displayed across USU Campus at various dining services locations. We encourage you to visit a display this month and visit our resources page should you or someone you know need help.

Let Her Light Shine: Lauren McCluskey Memorial Walk

On October 22nd, 2018, University of Utah student, Lauren McCluskey, was murdered by a former intimate partner. Each October we join universities across the state in remembering her incredible life and the lives of those we've lost within the Aggie Family to domestic violence. Join us on the track of the USU Logan Fieldhouse any time between 3 and 5 pm on October 21st to honor those we've lost and learn about available resources!

Science Unwrapped: Chemical Commuters

Inquiring minds of all ages are invited to Science Unwrapped, the public outreach program of USU's College of Science. Admission is free. Our Oct. 21 speaker is USU environmental and analytical chemist Kimberly Hageman, who presents "Chemical Commuters: How Pollutants Travel Far and Wide Through the Earth's Atmosphere" at 7 pm in the Emert Auditorium (ESLC 130) of the Eccles Science Learning Center on the USU Logan campus. Dr. Hageman will speak for about half an hour and then invite questions from the audience. Afterwards, enjoy refreshments and hands-on STEM learning activities provided by student and community groups in the ESLC atrium. Oct. 21, 2022 Talk Description: Did you know chemical contaminants can travel long distances through the Earth's atmosphere to remote ecosystems? USU Observatory Public Viewing Night

Astronomy enthusiasts of all ages are invited to the USU Observatory to view the night sky through the observatory's 20-inch reflecting telescope. Admission is free. IMPORTANT NOTE: Please visit observatory.usu.edu PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL on Friday, Oct. 21 for updates, as the gathering will be cancelled in the event of cloudy or inclement weather.
