Demarcation: a survey of contemporary photography in Utah
Exhibition
Early photographic surveys of the American West explored the physical territory; this portfolio examines the conceptual landscape of creative practice by photographic artists spanning the vast spaces of Utah. The artists have strong connections to the state and their images represent a diversity beyond geographic boundaries; they interrupt convention and draw new lines. Intended to serve as a document of a historical moment, this portfolio was created as
an act of generosity, especially through its inclusion of a younger generation of artists who represent not only the current state of photographic art, but also its future.

Chemistry Seminar Series: Michael Trakselis
Conference/Seminar
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry presents "Dynamic Regulation of Replisome Progression" with Michael Trakselis, professor at Baylor University. Hosted by Sean Johnson. Projects in the Trakselis laboratory center on understanding the molecular mechanisms of DNA replication and repair and exploiting this knowledge for cancer therapeutics, biotechnology, and nanoscale applications. The lab utilizes a model archaeal DNA replication system which shares significant homology to that of higher eukaryotes but is amenable to in vitro biochemistry experiments. This allows them to draw parallels between different domains of life using simpler replication systems. Additionally, they utilize cellular biology approaches in human cells to investigate the roles of various enzymes in double strand break repair. In this vain, they utilize molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology and biophysical methods to probe this area of research.

Sawyer has always loved working with people and came from a family that not only loves cookies, but is known for eating them warm right from the oven every Sunday. Sawyer’s passion for people and cookies led to the beginning of Crumbl Cookies in 2017. A year later he earned his bachelor’s degree at USU in communication studies with minors in marketing and multimedia development. Crumbl started as a family-owned business, co-founded by Sawyer, and his cousin, Jason McGowan, as part of a quest to sell the perfect chocolate chip cookie. The first location was opened in Logan, Utah five years ago, and the business has grown to more than 650 locations throughout the U.S. with more than 10,000 employees.
