Fry Street Quartet

Arts/Entertainment

The Fry Street Quartet presents a special project that is a true reflection of the Utah landscape. Los Angeles-based composer NIcolás Benavides traveled to Cache Valley to observe the Sharp-tailed and Greater Sage Grouse in their Spring breeding grounds, with special assistance from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. Collected field recordings provide the soundscape for this unique work: Lek for String Quartet and Electronics, a dramatization of the early morning mating rituals of these magnificent birds.
