Hawkins is a Senior Lecturer at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and the author of Shakespeare in Elizabethan Costume: 'Period Dress' in Twenty-First Century Performance.

Jontrell graduated in 2019 with his bachelor's in Political Science and Sociology, going on to earn a Master's in Business Administration in 2020. A former athlete with the Cleveland Browns and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Jontrell now leverages his experience as a Senior Business Consultant for the I-System Institute and focuses on mental performance and wellness. Hatch Foundation, in collaboration with Utah State University, is pleased to announce a Hatch Center Symposium on “Freedom of Speech: Improving Civil Dialogue on College Campuses.” The event will feature a conversation with Dana Perino, former White House Press Secretary and current Fox News anchor and host. "In an era where echo chambers too often drown out genuine debate, we must learn to listen and engage respectfully. I’m eager to share my insights and challenge students and community members to rise above the noise and foster honest, constructive conversations,” said Dana Perino.

Jana Riess, a senior columnist for Religion News Service and a prominent contributor to The Salt Lake Tribune, is an acclaimed author with a profound understanding of American religious history. Riess holds a doctorate in American religious history from Columbia University and an MDiv degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, making her uniquely qualified to provide insightful analysis on this evolving topic. Riess’s lecture promises to offer valuable perspectives on the shifting dynamics of faith and gender within Latter-day Saint communities, set against broader American religious trends.
Nurturing Hope in Ourselves and Others: The Science of Hope and Well-Being

Hope is the mindset that drives resilient behaviors in everyone, including women. Hope is the expectation we have that we can identify pathways and generate the agency to attain desired goals. Research shows that hope is a psychological strength that can be nurtured and is one of the protective factors to our well-being.
This presentation and discussion with Dr. Chan Hellman—a professor of social work at the University of Oklahoma – Tulsa, the Executive Director of the Hope Research Center, and the author of Hope Rising—will introduce the science and power of hope, how trauma and adversity impact hope, and practical strategies for building resilience in individuals and communities. Dr. Hellman’s almost 20 years of research at the Hope Research Center demonstrating hope as a protective factor for children and families experiencing adversity and trauma, will be the basis for his presentation. He discovered that hope can be taught and nurtured in children and adults who are facing all types of challenges. We all need more hope in today’s world. Join us and learn more about how more hope can change our lives!

Savoie-Roskos, the Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Student Services for the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences at Utah State University, will present on her research related to interventions that aim to reduce food insecurity and improve fruit and vegetable intake among low income individuals in Utah.
