Former Utah House of Representatives Speaker Greg Hughes will speak in Perry Pavilion on Tuesday, January 14, from 2-3 PM. Speaker Hughes recently announced his candidacy for Governor of Utah. Hughes has a tremendous life story, and has been an entrepreneur in his professional career.
We encourage all students to be informed citizens of our democracy. Come find out why he is running to be Governor of Utah. Pizza will be served.

Davis Smith, CEO of Cotopaxi
Davis is an adventure brand with a humanitarian mission. He is a member of the UN’s Global Leadership Council and one of President Bill Clinton’s and George W. Bush’s “Presidential Leadership Scholars.” Davis was Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s “CEO of the Year” and previously started Brazil’s “Startup of the Year.” Davis holds an MBA from the Wharton School, an
MA from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA from Brigham Young University. Davis is an adventurer who has floated the Amazon on a self-made raft, kayaked from Cuba to Florida, and explored North Korea.

At 7 pm, enjoy a presentation by Professor Ron Munger, an epidemiologist in USU's Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Sciences. With her husband’s marketing degree and her degree of Administrative Assistant (plus building her team as a Mary Kay consultant for many years), they dreamed of creating something from nothing and making it their own. One day while brainstorming ideas for a new business, her husband said, “What is something we have every day, multiple times a day?” Nicole responded, “That’s easy, we get a Sonic (Diet Coke). He responded, “What if we build a business with just drive-thru fountain drinks?” And that is how Swig came to be!

Entrepreneur Leadership Series - Mel Torrie

Mel Torrie, Founder, President, and CEO of Autonomous Solutions Inc.
Mr. Torrie grew up on a farm in Alberta Canada and earned a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University. Mr. Torrie then taught at Utah State University and worked on multiple NASA Space Shuttle payloads. 20 years ago he spun out the university’s robotics lab to make driverless vehicles a reality in industries like agriculture, mining, construction, security, material handling, and automotive. Other businesses he’s started with his wife include a restaurant, school of rock/jazz, and a non-profit foundation for disadvantaged youth in Central America. Mel has been an invited keynote speaker and trainer on the topics of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Robotics, and STEM education in countries like Egypt, Russia, China, Japan, Croatia, Germany, South Africa, and Australia

This is a private leadership forum with David C. Roskelley for only Covey Leadership Fellows (CLF). CLF members have a unique opportunity to sit down with David in a private forum to learn about how to elevate your leadership and participate in a special Q/A session. Join CLF.
David Roskelley is an avid mountain climber. He has climbed the "7 Summits," or the highest mountain on each continent, and the "7 Volcanic Summits," the highest volcano on each continent. David's next goal is to be the first person to climb the highest mountain on the moon.
David Roskelley is also the founding partner at engineering-consulting service R&R Environmental, Inc. The firm serves clients throughout the United States and Canada. David has a Masters degree in Public Health with an emphasis in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Utah/Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH) and currently teaches as an adjunct faculty member. David is currently serving as Past Chair of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) and has previously served on the AIHA Board as a Director.

An event with a presentation by Dr Robert Davies and Dr Patrick Belmont (along with a statement from the Provost) on the state of climate issues, and real world solutions. There will additionally be climate/sustainability groups there to give people ideas for different ways they can help impact the climate.
