Psychosocial Issues Related to Pregnancy and Fertility for Women with Disabilities - Roxanna Nasseri Pebdani

Women with disabilities face many barriers to pregnancy and fertility, most of which are not physical. From society sending messages that women with disabilities are asexual to physicians not knowing how to handle the pregnancy of a woman with a disability, the obstacles can be plentiful. During this talk, Dr. Pebdani will address the structural and psychosocial barriers that women with disabilities face, and will identify methods to reduce or eliminate these barriers.

Dr. Roxanna Nasseri Pebdani is a Senior Lecturer and Course Director in the Discipline of Rehabilitation Counselling at the University of Sydney. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has authored or co-authored over 20 journal articles and book chapters and has conducted over thirty presentations at local, national, and international conferences. Dr. Pebdani’s research interests are in women's issues in disability, specifically pregnancy and fertility. Dr. Pebdani also conducts research on sexuality and disability.

Little Naturalist

Lecture/Readings | Home, Family, and Food

Little Naturalist is the perfect program for 3 to 5 year olds who are curious about animals, their habitats, the environment, and exploring nature. Join us twice a month, October through May, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to read a specially selected nature-themed book, explore the natural world, and complete a craft. Some favorites include snowshoeing on the Preserve, interacting with live reptiles and amphibians, upcycling old materials into holiday decorations, and much more!

Cost is $2.00 per youth participant, or buy a $15.00 punch card good f or 10 programs.

Carnivore Cognition: They Are What They Eat - Dr. Jennifer Vonk will present research on a series including behavioral inhibition in bears, cats, and hyenas as well as studies on black bear cognition and domestic cat and human interaction.

Friends of Merrill-Cazier Library Spring Lecture with Colleen McDannell

Join us on April 16 for an interesting interview with published author and professor of history and religious studies at University of Utah, Colleen McDannell. McDannell will discuss female members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints view on the church’s culture since the end of polygamy. From suffrage to modern day blogging, hear McDannell’s research on feminist movements within the church after plural marriage was no longer practiced. This event is free and open to the public.

WEBINAR - Fireflies in Utah?!

Did you know there are fireflies in Utah? Learn about the biology and ecology of these fascinating biolumenescent beetles from Christy Bills, Entomologist at the Natural History Museum of Utah. Christy will be presenting her research on these amazing creatures and providing all the information you need to participate in a local citizen-science project to contribute to their conservation.
