Mindful Movement | Yin Yoga

Recreation

FREE REGISTRATION: https://bit.ly/mindfulnessandmeditationweekly

Yin yoga is a slow-paced, passive type of yoga that incorporates long holds and stretching designed for deep contemplation and mind-body awareness. Yin yoga promotes sensory awakening that melts away tension and stress, and is known to release repressed or stored emotions. A tried and true technique to experience fascia and connective tissue release, Yin yoga is also an excellent practice for beginners because it offers plenty of time to uncover the unique benefits of individual poses without worrying about tricky transitions.

Practicing self care through mindfulness and meditation can help you relax and focus on what is most important - your overall wellness. This class is the first in an ongoing, online wellness series hosted by the Utah State University Office of Health Equity and Community Engagement.

Community Class: The Grief of Overdose Death

Workshop/Training

FREE REGISTRATION: https://bit.ly/troi-griefofoverdose-729

We all have the potential to be affected by overdose death. Learn the what, why and how of helping overdose survivors move toward healing.

Nearly 90,000 people in the United States died from opioids in 2020. Utah is one of 22 states with an overdose rate higher than the national average. There were 571 overdose deaths in Utah in 2019. We estimate that there are 25 affected survivors for each death by opioid overdose, some 1,150 family members and friends.

Join Dr. Katherine Supiano for an informative, IN-PERSON workshop that explains what the grief of overdose death is, why it matters, and how you can provide support to overdose death survivors as they move toward healing. This is a two-part workshop, offering training for community members and professionals during the morning session and clinical education for providers in the afternoon. CEUs are available for professionals who complete training requirements.
