Ute Ladies’ Tresses Orchid Monitoring
Special Event
Bear River Land Conservancy is seeking community volunteers of all ages that want to help us conduct our annual monitoring of Ute Ladies’ Tresses. Monitoring events will occur on Friday evenings beginning July 28th through early September. Each Friday, we will meet at 6 p.m. at ~5400 W, 1800 S in Mendon. Please wear long sleeve shirts, pants, and sturdy shoes. Ute Ladies’ Tresses are a threatened perennial flowering orchid found in open wetland and riparian micro-habitats, are mostly pollinated by bumblebees, and are dependent on mycorrhizal fungi. As part of our efforts to manage Mendon Meadows Preserve and to protect this rare orchid, Bear River Land Conservancy conducts annual monitoring and established a pollinator garden in 2022. USU Observatory Public Viewing Night
Special Event
Astronomy enthusiasts of all ages are invited to view the night sky through the 20-inch reflecting telescope at the USU Observatory on the roof of the Science Engineering Research (SER) Building. Admission is free. Because cloudy or inclement weather could cancel the event, all guests are encouraged to visit observatory.usu.edu prior to arrival at the event, for important updates. The site also provides directions and parking information.
Legacy of Val Day of Service: Produce Picking with Cache Community Gleaning
Special Event
Join us as we remember the life and work of Val Christensen. We'll be picking excess produce from local gardens/farms and then donating it to community members through the Cache Community Food Pantry and the SNAC. This activity is also part of the United Way of Cache Valley's annual Days of Caring-Service. Make sure to read the volunteer training when you register! USU Museum Week @ USU Eastern

International Equal Pay Day

International Equal Pay Day falls on September 18 of every year. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about unequal pay and pushing to close the gender pay gap. Interested in learning more about the gender pay gap and how to get involved? Stop by our office in TSC 313 on September 18th, from 3:30 pm-5:30pm for information on equal pay in Utah, financial wellness and salary negotiation tips, light refreshments, and more!
Utah Court of Appeals Public Hearings

The Utah Court of Appeals will hear cases on the Logan campus of Utah State University. The special oral argument session, which is open to the USU community and general public, will be held on Sept. 20, 2023.

Science Unwrapped: Waves

Featured speaker is USU climate scientist Jon Meyer, who presents, "Waves: The Ups and Downs of Utah's Climate Cycle," as part of our "Building on Basics" series. Refreshments and hands-on learning activities follow the talk.
Friday Night Lights High Fitness

Join our Friday Night Lights High Fitness class for a fun and upbeat way to get active! Running from 8 to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 22nd, this high fitness event will be hosted on the Aggie Legacy Fields for a unique exercise experience! Bring your friends, come solo, or make it a date as we're hoping to beat BYU's record of the largest High Fitness event in the state. We hope to see you there!
Legacy of Val Day of Service: Bulbs at the Whittier Community Center

Honor the legacy of Val Christensen by lending a hand at the Whittier Community Center! We'll be planting bulbs that will sprout in the springtime and pulling weeds. Utah State University’s Inaugural Employee Appreciation Day

All USU employees (full and part time) are invited to a day of fun and recognition! Employee Appreciation Day is coordinated by the Office of Human Resources with support and sponsorship from several internal and external partners. The goal of this day is to celebrate all faculty and staff by providing some food, fun, and formal recognition for all you do for USU and our students. This event will include free lunch served by the USU Executive Committee, and activities such as a football field goal kick, flu shot clinic, tours of athletic events, live music, exhibitors, and more! Employees must bring their USU ID card in order to access the event.
