The Ecology Center / Matt Forister: Insects in the Anthropocene through the lens of butterflies in the western US.

“I am interested in population ecology and the evolution of ecological interactions. I have spent much of my career thinking about diet breadth and host shifts in herbivorous insects, especially in Lycaeides butterflies. In recent years, more of my attention has gone to questions of global change and monitoring butterflies at long term study sites that we maintain in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.” There will be a catered social in the BNR Atrium (just outside BNR 102) following Wednesday’s seminar on October 23 at 5:00 pm. We are the graduate student council's Inclusive Excellence Committee (formerly known as JEDI for all you old hats). Our mission is to build a more just and inclusive community and environment within QCNR where those of all identities and backgrounds can thrive. We aim to do this by fostering and advocating for knowledge of, awareness of, empathy for, and conversation about different perspectives and backgrounds, as well as connection, community, and a sense of belonging for all. USU Forestry Club: Firewood Cut

Come learn how to use a chainsaw!
It's time for our annual firewood cut! Every year we go up the school forest to cut firewood to sell as a fundraiser and teach you all how the basics of using chainsaws. We will be cutting firewood October 26. We will be meeting at 7:45 a.m. in the NR parking lot!
You need to bring: closed toe shoes (sturdy boots are suggested) - this is required to use a chainsaw, a long sleeve shirt - also required, work gloves if you have them, layers for the cold, and snacks + water

Antelope Island Bison Roundup
Student Activities
Join the USU Wildlife Society at the annual Antelope Island Bison Roundup! We will be doing public outreach and education and assisting the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources with any other tasks they need help with. We have opportunities to carpool for two different Saturday shifts. Check our website for more info!
