Supporting Student Mental Health: Balancing Flexibility and Accountability

Panel Discussion/Presentation

This presentation is designed to help faculty support students dealing with academic difficulties resulting from mental health issues. In this presentation, faculty will get guidance from a licensed psychologist on how to best respond to a student who discloses mental health issues, be they mild or severe. And then advice will be given on how to balance flexibility for these students with accountability when it comes to their academic work in your courses. This event will be held in person (HH380) and via Zoom.

Using Bloom's Taxonomy to Craft Better Questions to Engage Students

Have you wondered about how you can encourage students to engage with your material at a deeper level? Have you heard of Bloom Taxonomy, but maybe it’s been a while? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, join us for this Sparkshop. In this Sparkshop we will explore the revised version of Bloom’s Taxonomy (2001) and investigate how it can guide you in crafting deeper discussion questions. Spoiler alert, the authors of the revised taxonomy have done much of the work for us already.
