Weber County 4-H Public Speaking, Impromptu, and Demonstration Contests

Contestants will select a topic for their speech by randomly drawing three questions/statements from a pool of topics. They will select one question/statement and return the other two. A maximum of one minute will be allowed for this process. Topics will be relative to today’s youth and may include current events, 4‐H, and/or social issues. Examples of the type of topics include: a. If I were an author, I would write about… b. One issue facing teenagers today is… c. If I could describe my personality as a tree, which tree would I be… d. What has being involved in 4‐H taught me?

A Bolder Way Forward 2nd Annual Summit
Meeting
The 2nd Annual A Bolder Way Forward (BWF) Summit focuses on making Utah a place where more girls and women can thrive in any setting (e.g., home, workplace, congregation, and community). This movement, launched in June 2023, focuses on creating societal change in Utah.
This event, hosted at Zions Bank Technology Campus, will discuss the momentum that a BWF has created since June 2023 and will provide ample time for leaders of the18 “spoke” areas to meet with their respective teams. Areas include childcare/pre-K programs, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, entrepreneurship, finances, gender pay gap, health across the lifespan, higher education attainment, home and family, K-12 initiatives, leadership development, organizational strategies and workplace culture, political and civic engagement, poverty and homelessness, sexual assault, sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination, STEM fields, and workforce development.
Come and join us for this second annual gathering to learn more and become inspired to help create change for Utah women and girls.

Logan Canyon Rock Climbing

Come spend a few hours rock climbing up in Logan Canyon. We will meet at the OP and drive up the canyon to experience some of the many climbs right in our campus backyard. This is a great opportunity to learn some of the routes in Logan Canyon or try climbing for the first time. No experience is necessary, beginners are welcome. Summer intramural registration is open! We're offering 2v2 basketball, pickleball, and 2v2 sand volleyball. Leagues are open to community members, staff, students, summer citizens, alumni, and more! Purchase your summer membership for just $15 and that gets you access to all sports and as many teams as you want. Leagues are self-officiated and self-reported. You work with the other team to determine a time and date that works for you all. Can play on campus or not, up to you! Equipment is available at the ARC if needed/wanted. USU Juneteenth Mignon Barker Richmond Memorial 5k & Fun Run

8 am: 1-mile Fun Run 8:30 - 11 am: 5k Run Honor and celebrate the legacy of Mignon Barker Richmond (USU Alum 1921), the first African American student to graduate from a university in the State of Utah, by participating in our annual 5K and Fun Run. 80% of the proceeds from the 5K and Fun Run will go towards a memorial in her honor to be located in the USU Logan Campus. The other 20% of the proceeds will go towards future Juneteenth programming. Donate to the Mignon Barker Richmond memorial. Race Fees: Early Bird Special: $20 for ages 18 and higher, $15 for ages 8 - 17, ages 7 and under are Free. Post Early Bird: $30 for ages 18 and higher, $25 for ages 8 - 17, ages 7 and under are Free. Come spend a few hours rock climbing up in Logan Canyon. We will meet at the OP and drive up the canyon to experience some of the many climbs right in our campus backyard. This is a great opportunity to learn some of the routes in Logan Canyon or try climbing for the first time. No experience necessary, beginners welcome. As part of the Bennion Teachers' Workshop, Dr. Zara Anishanslin, Associate Professor at the University of Delaware, will present the keynote lecture "Domesticating Revolution: The Material Culture of Homespun Violence in the American Revolution." n this keynote address, "Domesticating Revolution," Anishanslin looks at the critical role that homespun violence--manifested in the form of material culture--played in crafting Patriot political culture during the American Revolution. The talk brings together military and women’s history, and political and family history through material culture.

Alzheimer's Prevention Health Fair

Clinical neuropsychologist and USU professor of psychology JoAnn Tschanz will join other USU faculty with expertise in psychology, aging, neuroscience and more to host a health fair for Northern Utah residents on June 29. The fair is focused on Alzheimer’s Disease awareness and prevention. Residents over the age of 55 as well as caregivers are encouraged to attend.
