Canvas allows a teacher to create a "blueprint" course, where updates can be made just once and then synced to several associated courses. This can greatly ease the management of multiple versions of the same class. This workshop shows how to use and effectively manage blueprint courses.

This workshop will walk through new features in Canvas and how to utilize them in your courses.
AI in Teaching: Basics
Workshop/Training
In this workshop, we discuss the basics of generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, as they pertain to higher education. Specifically, we'll seek to address what they are capable of and the various ways teachers can choose to approach them in their classes. We'll discuss syllabus language, AI detection tools, and ways to encourage students to think critically, use AI responsibly, and demonstrate their own capabilities. We'll also share some ideas and examples of AI as a teaching tool.
Introduction to Social Annotation with Hypothes.is
Workshop/Training
This session will be an introduction to using Hypothesis and social annotation in your courses. Jessica from the Hypothesis team will share how teachers are using annotation-powered reading to help students develop foundational academic skills like deep reading and persuasive writing. In addition to sharing pedagogical best practices for social annotation, she will demonstrate how Hypothesis is used with course readings in Canvas. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how to start incorporating social annotation into their courses to improve student outcomes.
CIDI Workshop - Importing and Updating Your Course for the New Semester

This workshop addresses how to copy content from one semester's course to another, update due dates and settings, check for problems, and make additional enhancements.
AI in Teaching: Opportunities
Workshop/Training
In this workshop, we discuss some of the ways AI can be used by faculty for content creation, design analysis, help with feedback, student coaching, simulation, and more. We'll give examples of assignments and prompts using AI and allow participants to share their own thoughts and ideas around AI in teaching.

Ceremony/Awards/Celebration
Join us in welcoming Utah State University's newest Aggies onto the Logan campus! In its fifth year, the Connections Luminary allows students the opportunity to process from the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum to the Quad. During this time, students will hear from esteemed speakers, create lasting connections with others, and experience a meaningful welcome to Utah State University. This event is special because it celebrates people from all backgrounds. As a community member, you have the unique opportunity to welcome our newest Aggies to campus! Help make this experience as special as possible.
USU Luminary
Fair/Festival
The public is invited to come to the east side of the Quad at 8:15 p.m. to hold a blue luminary lantern and to line up along the sidewalk as the new students walk to the Quad. Participants will be able to keep their lanterns after the Luminary. Parking is available in the Big Blue Terrace and the Aggie Terrace.
