Storytelling with Data

Data on its own is worthless - it is only as valuable as the action taken upon it. Because of this, our data visualizations must inspire the viewer to act. In this workshop, attendees learn and apply the best practices of communicating in the world of data analytics and business. Join Jessica Wilkinson, a data analyst for Koch Industries. Gilman Study Abroad Scholarship Workshop
Workshop/Training
If you are currently receiving a Pell Grant, then you are eligible to apply for the Gilman Scholarship for study abroad! Fall 2020, Academic Year 2020-2021, and Summer 2020 applications are due March 3, 2020.
Come to one of our advising sessions for Gilman Scholarship applications to get an overview of the scholarship,
plus tips for essay writing. If you would like feedback from an advisor on your essays, you are welcome to bring them.
The sessions will be held in Military Science 217 (upstairs). Feel free to come and go as needed during the workshops.
CIA Advisory Sessions
Workshop/Training
Sit one-on-one with a CIA Representative to explore career opportunities and life at the CIA. Come prepared with questions about positions found on cia.gov (recommend taking the short survey through the Website's "Job Fit" tool and bringing your results), resume style, cover letter format, and anything else regarding working at the CIA! Undergraduates and Graduates of all academic disciplines are encouraged to attend. All CIA positions require US citizenship and relocation to the Washington, DC area.
STEM Career Fair Preparation Workshop

All Aggie Scientists and Engineers are invited to a free workshop on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, from noon-2 pm in the Engineering Building Atrium, to prepare for the USU Spring STEM Career Fair (Feb. 12) .

The Fulbright Workshops will provide information on Fulbright program options, eligibility, how to apply, and tips to enhance an application.
Fulbright U.S. Student Session: 3:00 - 4:00. Student applications are due September 9, 2020 for 2021-22 grant awards. Students must have earned at least a bachelor's degree by the time the grant period begins.
Fulbright U.S. Scholar Session: 4:00 - 5:00
All are welcome to attend, regardless of when one may consider submitting a Fulbright grant application.

Data Visualization: Tableau (HH 124): Data visualization enables and empowers users to identity patterns, trends, and outliers. Whatever your academic and career aspirations may be, data and the visualization of that data is powerful! Come to this interactive workshop taught by Professor Reagan Siggard to analyze a sample data set and go through a hands-on exercise with Tableau. No prior experience or skill set is necessary. Beginner Excel (EBB 211): Are you in need of an Excel refresher? Or perhaps you’ve had little or no experience with Excel? Come to this workshop taught by Dr. Kelly Fadel to get started and learn the value of having Excel in your professional tool belt. Spots are limited so please register here. No dress code is required but please bring a laptop with Excel if available.
Intermediate/Advanced Excel (HH 124): If you are proficient in writing nested if-statements and vlookups, this Excel workshop is for you! Companies often express they want applicants with more Excel experience. Prepare for that next internship or job by attending this workshop taught by Professor Vance Reeder and build on the skills you already have! Spots are limited so please register here.
